Professional Bio

Dr. Maron is the C.F. Rehnborg Professor of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine where he serves as Chief of the Stanford Prevention Research Center and Director of Preventive Cardiology. He trained in preventive cardiology and cardiology at Stanford. Dr. Maron was a member of the leadership team that designed and conducted the VA-funded COURAGE trial that tested the benefit of PCI added to guideline-directed medical therapy. He was co-chair and principal investigator of the ISCHEMIA trial, an NIH-funded study that tested the benefits of cardiac catheterization and revascularization added to guideline-directed medical therapy in patients with stable coronary artery disease. He is co-chair of the TRANSFORM cardiovascular outcomes trial which is comparing conventional risk factor-based care with CCTA atherosclerosis stage-based care in high-risk asymptomatic people.
